He ends the call with his sister and sits back, holding the phone close. She'd sounded good, puzzled to hear from him, distant maybe, but... good. His family. Something that had been missing in his life for far too long. He looks at the phone. It's Australia Day. A day off, a picnic in the park, the cricket at Adelaide, a summer's day. Outside the snow is still falling, blanketing the ground. Idly he picks up his phone and surfs to a travel site, starts checking out flights to Australia. Maybe it's time to go home.

I love it of course. Nice little follow up scene. Poor melancholy Chase. It's going to be interesting to see what they show us in his episode.

What a sweet little missing scene. Makes sense that hearing his stsre's voice would trigger memories, and what bigger contrast than between working in NJ winter and a free summer day. Brava!

Do we know whether he went back to Australia during House's absence?

PS I am actually looking forward to Chase playing a meaningful arc while desperately hoping it is not shagging Adams.

Thanks :) I must admit when he said he 'went surfing' I assumed he meant in Australia but for the purposes of this fic he didn't :) If he did go back he evidently didn't go see his sister anyway as she said 'it's been years' - though interestingly enough she has his mobile phone number on her phone as she realised it was him before he said anything...

I was struck by the scene of them walking across the snowy football ground, it looked cold!!!

To be honest I'd rather any meaningful arcs this season revolved around House, or House & Wilson (or even Wilson by himself) rather than the bit players. But I do hope the Chase arc has nothing to do with sex in any form, and doesn't have him killing anyone else :)

So would I, but I just felt that something with Chase is in the making, and I'd prefer that (if sex- and murder-free) to further TMI on Taub's sex life. BTW, after all the chumminess last season between Taub and Foreman, apparently now they decided the latter prefers to spend his time with female adulterers.
