It's not crazy at all. I feel the same way. It's absolutely the passing of an era.
The first time I ever saw Star Trek I was at an older kid's house and it was playing on the TV. I was scared of Spock because of his ears--I thought he was the devil. In my defense 1) I was very young, and 2) I had been terrified by movie about Santa Claus fighting the devil not long before. When I was a little older I watched more than 10 seconds of the show and realized that Spock wasn't evil, just different--something I (like every kid) could relate to.
Star Trek wasn't my first fandom, I don't think, nor was it my first slash fandom...but the show and Mr. Spock are and always shall be one of my favorites.
