Putting them all together makes for quite a roller coaster. The first one is sweet and perfect. I can imagine Wilson wondering whether he would be more embarrassed with or without the hat. The second... ugh. Left me breathless. One can almost see Wilson, alone in the dark office, hesitating before sniffing out the candles and feeling like a complete idiot about it. At the same time, great missing scene of a grieving House. The third is again an uplifting one, not because of the situation (which must have been very hard for Wilson) but because of House's kindness (not saying anything is also part of the care). The fourth is also very sweet, although it does remind me of the Thanksgiving episode: I saw what Cuddy did not as a prank but a cruelty, and something the Cuddy I used to know and love would never have done. House definitely deserves TLC after that. The fifth is lovely, and by now the astute reader must have understood that all this gentleness will have its price - and it does. The House that Mayfield broke is heartbreaking. I can't imagine who of them suffers more in this situation. The fact that his only words in who-knows-how-long are "I want to go home"... I don't know how he'll manage, but the ending, while sad, leaves hope that Wilson will succeed in keeping his promise. Looking together, it seems that there is a unifying theme: House and Wilson are not just friends, but each other's family, each other's home. Once that is made clear, whether they actually have sex together isn't so important.
