So is the slavery situation. Born into it? Sold for payment of debts, or as punishment for some crime? We don't know. Do they have any hope at all of freedom, I wonder. Or is it once a slave, always a slave.

What would happen if a master were to break apart a bonded pair? Say, by selling only one of them to that Vogler fellow who would like a personal trained dog, I mean physician.
