Summary - On the anniversary of Amber's death

Wilson appeared in the doorway of House's office

"Ready House?"

House nodded reluctantly and put on his coat. Silently he followed Wilson down the hallway and out of the hospital.

Wilson didn't say much on the way, he seemed lost in his own world and House stared out the window trying not to think.

When they arrived at the cemetery Wilson went straight to Amber's grave while House hung back. Between the memories of Kutner's death and the sure knowledge that he was losing his mind this was the last thing he needed. At least he wasn't hallucinating at the moment. His mind flashed back to exactly a year ago and he remembered waking from the coma and staring at Wilson in the doorway of his hospital room. Wilson had just looked at him, shaken his head and walked away.

Though things between Wilson and himself had improved somewhat since that time House still felt that the ground beneath them was shifting sands, that any moment they could lose their balance and tumble apart from each other. When Wilson had asked him to come here on the anniversary of Amber's death he could hardly say no for fear of starting the landslide.

"House?" Wilson came up to him, his eyes red rimmed and his cheeks stained with tears. "Thanks for coming with me."

"You asked me to." House replied.

"I'll never forget her." Wilson sighed, hunched his shoulders and took off down the path to the car.

House looked towards the grave where Amber was sitting on the headstone, swinging her legs and grinning at him.

"And he'll never let you forget either."
