As for what really used to be Cuddy's role, I always felt she allowed herself to be the authority figure that House needed to fight against. And perhaps a set of absolute limits.

I think thats pretty much right, when she set a really firm line in the sand he tended to respect that. The one thing I always liked about Cuddy was that she seemed to realise that House *can* actually save lives, and she gave him a lot of leeway for that. I hope Foreman remembers that too.

To go off on a tangent, I thought it was interesting that House proved he could easily run two cases at once (even with having to work around all the limitations of the dead kids case). If I was Foreman I might be inclined to use that knowledge.
