And the parallels to [H]ouse continue...
So Marcus Bell has a brother, with a criminal record who has spent years in prison. Remind anyone of Eric Foreman who has a brother Marcus who had spent years in prison? Both sets of brothers have a strained relationship (although whereas Marcus Bell tried to get his brother out of prison, Foreman actually refused Tritter's offer to get his brother out of prison).
Although, to be honest, it does seem a bit like stereotyping when this type of storyline pops up all the time with regards to an African-american character. I'm glad they didn't kill his brother off.
I'm not sure Bell should have gone along with Sherlock's lie about the gun - that's some major interference in a murder investigation by both characters. Nice to hear Sherlock say that he respects Gregson - there still seems to be a lot of tension there, also good to hear Sherlock admitting he was a bit out of control with the whole 'seeking vengeance' thing a few episodes back.
Sherlock seemed very desparate for Joan to stay, the revelation that he knew about Joan not being paid anymore wasn't as big a deal as I thought they were going to make it, I'm glad he wasn't angry about it. I still think it's a bit odd that his father didn't want her to stay - I think there must be more to that story. And Sherlock has a mysterious source of funds - hmmmm.
The storyline with Sherlock trying to get Joan to defend herself was fun (he does have a point though, they do seem to have a distressing ability to wrack up dead bodies in each episode). And was that an oversized tennis ball she lobbed at his head at the end ? ;)
So, what did anyone else think of this ep?
